Caterpillar, Chevron share losses contribute to Dow’s 100-point drop – MarketWatch

Dragged down by losses for shares of Caterpillar and Chevron, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Thursday afternoon. Shares of Caterpillar CAT, -4.88% and Chevron CVX, -3.68% have contributed to the index’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, +0.64% was most recently trading 105 points, or 0.3%, lower. Caterpillar’s shares are down $9.70 (5.2%) while those of Chevron have fallen $6.69, or 4.5%, combining for an approximately 108-point drag on the Dow. Boeing BA, -2.33%, American Express AXP, -1.90%, and JPMorgan Chase JPM, -1.09% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
