Dow jumps 50 points on gains in Johnson & Johnson, Merck stocks – MarketWatch

Buoyed by positive momentum for shares of Johnson & Johnson and Merck, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Wednesday afternoon. The Dow DJIA, -0.04% is trading 54 points higher (0.2%), as shares of Johnson & Johnson JNJ, +1.93% and Merck MRK, +1.64% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally. Johnson & Johnson’s shares have risen $4.51 (2.6%) while those of Merck have risen $2.12 (2.4%), combining for an approximately 44-point boost for the Dow. McDonald’s MCD, +1.54%, Procter & Gamble PG, +1.78%, and Salesforce Inc. CRM, +0.38% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any of the benchmark’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
