Eric Adams sizes up Gracie Mansion on his first day as mayor – New York Post

Mayor Eric Adams will size up his new digs at Gracie Mansion Saturday, getting the lay of the land as he prepares to move into his official residence this week.

“I’m going by today to measure the drapes and to see what the accommodations are like,” Adams joked to reporters after taking the J train to work Saturday morning.

“I’m going to move a mattress into Gracie. My NutriBullet, my spices. Not a lot. I need so little, not a lot,” said the former diabetic-turned-vegan.

“It’s normally done after the 31st , after being sworn in,” Adams remarked, even though his notoriously tardy predecessor Bill de Blasio delayed his move to Gracie until June, 2014– six months after taking the job.

Adams will also spend time at his townhouse in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn and at City Hall where he arrived by 8:30 a.m. on his first day in office.

The new mayor promised to also “spend a lot of time in Brooklyn.” During the primary campaign there were questions about where Adams kept a primary residence as he owns both the Brooklyn home and an apartment in Fort Lee, NJ. Adams said Brooklyn was his full time residence, but he spent weekends in Jersey with his partner Tracey Collins.

Hizzoner, a fitness buff, said he’d move his exercise equipment into City Hall where he’ll also keep a bed to crash when he works late.

“I’m looking forward to showing New Yorkers I’m on the job. I take the train, I’m going to put in long hours. No one in this city is going to outwork me,” Adams said.

That’s a departure from de Blasio, whose NYPD security detail drove him from Gracie to his Park Slope, Brooklyn YMCA for a daily workout. He usually didn’t arrive at City Hall until between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
