Police confirm shots fired in ‘isolated incident’ at Mall of America; lockdown being lifted – KSTP

Police have confirmed shots were fired at Mall of America Thursday afternoon.

Bloomington Police confirmed to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS at around 4:30 p.m. that multiple units were at the mall working an “active incident” on the northwest side.

At around 5:40 p.m., the department said it had secured the scene at the mall and determined the suspect fled the area. No victims were immediately found by police.

The mall went into lockdown, citing an “isolated incident in a tenant space.”

However, police said MOA was “in the process of lifting the lockdown” at 5:40 p.m. However, the mall is then closing for the rest of the night.

Video from inside the mall appears to show a situation at the Nike store, as three loud bangs can heard in the video.

Another video from inside showed a crowd taking shelter in the basement of the mall.

Video taken outside the mall shows people running away from the building.

Due to the activity, Metro Transit announced it would not drop off passengers at the mall until further notice.
