Queen’s funeral: Royal Family fans can’t cope as ‘Tall Paul’ dwarfed in procession by someone even taller – My London

Royal fans and viewers of Queen Elizabeth’s funeral were floored by the arrival of a guest who has dwarfed her Page of the Backstairs, Paul Whybrew – also known as ‘Tall Paul’. People on social media pointed the figure out during the procession.

KentLive reported the impressively tall man was spotted amongst the sea of bodies by social media users and were desperate to know who the mystery figure was. Twitter users were sent into a spin as they tried to track down his identity.

One person asked: “Who is this insanely tall man? Is this the royal Slenderman?”

Another said: “Anyone know who the exceedingly tall man is?”

Royal fans were stunned by his appearance at the funeral, claiming he has officially towered over Tall Paul, who stands at 6ft 4in. One royal viewer was keen to set the record straight, writing: “If anyone else is as curious as I am, the very tall man in front of the hearse in the Queen’s procession is Matthew Magee, her 7’2” private security. The man to his left is “Tall Paul.” Still haven’t figured out who the slighter man is to Matthew’s right.”

According to The Sun, the man is thought to be Matthew Magee, one of the Queen’s aides who replaced Samantha Cohen as Her Majesty’s private secretary in 2018, who stands at a whopping 7ft 2in. Before being hired as the late monarch’s private secretary, he served as her youngest son, Prince Edward’s, private secretary.

Tall Paul served The Queen for many decades and not only did he famously tackle intruder Michael Fagan out of Her Majesty’s bedroom in 1982, but he appeared alongside her during her famous sketch with Daniel Craig as James Bond for the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony. Paul Whybrew gained the nickname ‘Tall Paul’ during his time in royal service and was said to be a “near constant presence” for The Queen during lockdown and has been praised time and again for his closeness to the late monarch.
