Royal Family fans can’t cope with how similar Queen’s youngest grandson looks to a young Prince William – My London

Royal Family fans can’t cope with how similar The Queen’s youngest grandson James, Viscount Severn looks to a young Prince William.

Ahead of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral today (Monday September 19), the former monarch’s eight grandchildren took part in a silent vigil around her coffin in Westminster Abbey. Led by new heir apparent Prince William, the group included Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, as well as Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and The Queen’s rarely seen youngest grandchild, 14-year-old James Alexander Philip Theo Mountbatten-Windsor.

Born December 17 2007, the teenage Viscount Severn is the second child of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex. However, many Twitter users watching the touching moment on September 17 couldn’t help but notice his family resemblance to another royal at a similar age: cousin Prince William.

One viral Tweet collages together an image of the young Viscount at the vigil for his grandmother with a old photograph of Prince William. The latter is seemingly taken at the funeral for William’s late mother Diana, the former Princess of Wales, in September 1997 and shows the young royal, then 15, looking down with a sad but stoical expression while wearing a black suit and tie and white shirt.

In the more recent shot, William’s teenage cousin has his head hung in a similarly concerned manner and wears a dark-coloured tie and suit jacket – though his is decorated with the medals gifted to him by The Queen for the Diamond and Platinum Jubilees. The younger member of the Royal Family’s haircut and side profile also recall his cousin at a similar age.

Twitter user @KaylaAdams___’s post read “James, Viscount Severn looks strikingly like a young Prince William today” followed by a sad-eyed pleading face emoji and red heart emoji. Despite only being posted on the evening of September 17, the post has already gained nearly 8,000 likes along with more than 400 Retweets and Quote Tweets.

Some of those who retweeted the original post added their own thoughts on the two royals’ resemblance, with @BellissimaRoyal, for example, writing “James, Viscount Severn reminded me of young Prince William as well. The resemblance was so strong I got teary,” followed by a broken heart emoticon.
