The Babylon Bee is A Victim of Corporate Cancel Culture, Again – Independent Women’s Forum

Over the weekend, the Babylon Bee revealed to supporters that its internal email service was recently canceled without explanation. The company believes that its satirical political messages rubbed its service provider the wrong way. The Babylon Bee is once again a victim of woke corporate cancel culture.

The Babylon Bee is a satirical website that has not shied away from making fun of President Biden, his administration, and the left.

The outlet believes that their own vendors can’t take a joke and are working to stop them from sending their message.

Here’s what happened according to Seth Dillon, CEO of the Babylon Bee:

A few weeks ago, we received an unexpected email from Front, the company that manages all inbound and outbound email for the team here at the Babylon Bee, informing us that they had terminated our account, effective immediately.

Sure enough, moments later, we were unable to send or receive email.

For weeks afterwards, our team scrambled. We’re a company spread across multiple cities, so email is essential to our operation…

But why would they do such a thing?

By now, I’m sure you have a good guess.

It probably comes as no surprise that Front is run by a group of woke, left-wing tech elitists. Just like Twitter, Facebook, The New York Times, Snopes, and the many other companies that have attacked us, they simply can’t abide by satire that dares to mock their left-wing orthodoxy.

So they orchestrated their attack to do the most damage they possibly could.

Dillon went on to describe some of the other ways their operations have been undermined. For example, the Bee has been locked out of its Twitter account for the past few months after honoring transgender Biden appointee Dr. Rachel Levine as its “Man of the Year.”

The Babylon Bee may be joking about President Biden and his people, but it’s not a joke that corporate providers, which are paid for their services, would work so hard to undermine anyone who presents viewpoints they disagree with.

The Babylon Bee joins a growing list of conservative voices that are the victims of ideologically-driven tech censorship. The most prominent examples include Twitter’s permanent ban of President Donald Trump and its blocking of the Hunter Biden laptop story. Amazon Web Services also shut down the servers of Parler following the January 6th riot for what it claimed was a breach of terms.

We often write about Big Tech’s unfair and unjust censorship of conservative viewpoints, but many companies beyond these tech giants are just as woke and just as willing to wield their censorship tools to silence opposing viewpoints.

These companies are led and run by leftist elites who use their positions to advance their liberal agenda. A recent Stanford Graduate School of Business survey of more than 600 technology leaders and founders reveals just how liberal these types are. They overwhelmingly identify as Democrats, supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, and support raising taxes on the wealthy and federal programs to redistribute wealth. Interestingly, they are against authoritarianism, yet they are blind to their own authoritarianism through suppression of speech and different viewpoints.

The Babylon Bee is buzzing again despite these setbacks. However, their story is a cautionary reminder that the right to speak freely–even jokingly–is at risk in America.
