Falling oil prices will spur a decline of about 20 cents per gallon of gasoline on average across the United States by the end of 2025, the U.S. Energy Information Administration is projecting in its Sept. 9 short-term energy outlook.
βWe expect the U.S. average retail price for regular-grade gasoline will average about $3.10 per gallon this year, down 20 cents [per gallon] from last year,β the administration said in its monthly analysis, forecasting that retail gasoline prices will fall to an average of $2.90 per gallon in early 2026 across the nation.
