A declassified report suggests that the Hillary Clinton campaign sought to falsely claim that then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump had ties with the Russian government, while the FBI failed to investigate the matter, according to the heads of the CIA, Justice Department, and a prominent Republican senator.
The documents were part of an annex to former special counsel John Durham’s 2023 report into the FBI’s investigation into allegations of Trump campaign–Russia ties, and were released by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who had received the files from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and CIA.
