House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Thursday sketched out the Democratsâ fall agenda as Congress returned from its August recess, placing health care, public safety, redistricting, and corruption at the core of the caucusâs message heading into a busy September.
Jeffries accused Republicans of failing to address rising costs and said Democrats remain âcompletely unitedâ in their focus on lowering expenses, protecting health care, and âcleaning up corruption in this town.â He pointed repeatedly to Republicansâ signature legislation, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump in July, referring to it as the âone big, ugly billâ and as the source of higher costs and weaker protections.
