WASHINGTON — The Trump administration has allegedly frozen or terminated $412 billion worth of federal funds for research, national security, and economic development initiatives, according to a tracker developed by the Democratic leaders of the appropriations committees of the U.S. Congress.
The funds comprise 124 different grants and budget appropriations that were allocated for the 2024–25 fiscal year. The Democratic ranking members of the appropriations committees of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives say that all these funds are being improperly withheld by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which directs their disbursement from the Treasury.
