It’s the largest purchase in the Boeing company’s history.
Qatar Airways signed a deal on May 14 to purchase 160 jets from Boeing, America’s largest commercial jet manufacturer.
The deal followed President Donald Trump’s trip to Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday, and he was joined by Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for the signing ceremony.
“Get those planes out there. Get them out there,” Trump said after Ortberg signed the deal.
The president was also present to sign a defense agreement and an unspecified joint declaration with Tamim.
“I think after signing these documents, we are going to another level of relationship between Qatar and the United States,” the Qatari leader said. “So I just wanted to thank you, Mr. President, for this historic visit.”
