Senate to Vote on Plan to Reopen Government as Shutdown Enters 3rd Day

WASHINGTON—Senate Democrats are expected to again block a GOP short-term government funding plan on Oct. 3, as the shutdown enters its third day.

The federal government shut down at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 1 after both parties failed to reach a deal to pass a short-term plan to fund the government through Nov. 21.
