Texas Democrats announced they are returning after a two-week walkout blocking Republican efforts to redraw congressional districts in favor of the GOP before the 2026 midterm elections.
Democratic leaders say they’ll return for a second special legislative session beginning Aug. 18 in light of California Democratic leaders’ decision to attempt to redraw their own U.S. House maps to cancel out any Republican gains in Texas.
