President Donald Trump praised Curranâs bravery for risking his life to shield him during the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania last year.
President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday the appointment of Sean Curran as the next director of the United States Secret Service.
âSean has distinguished himself as a brilliant leader, who is capable of directing and leading operational security plans for some of the most complex Special Security Events in the History of our Country, and the World,â Trump stated.
âHe proved his fearless courage when he risked his own life to help save mine from an assassinâs bullet,â Trump said, commending his bravery.
Curran will replace Ronald Rowe, who has been serving as acting director following the resignation of Kimberly Cheatle on July 23, 2024. Cheatle faced criticism for the agencyâs handling of the assassination attempt on Trump in Butler.
âThis included a deficiency of established command and control, lapses in communication, and a lack of diligence by agency personnel. The U.S. Secret Serviceâs Office of Integrity is reviewing the findings and the accountability process is underway,â the statement read.
Other Appointments
In addition to Curranâs selection, Trump announced two other significant appointments on the same day.
Trump also nominated L. Brent Bozell III, the founder and president of the Media Research Center, to serve as the next CEO of the United States Agency for Global Media.
