Author Drew Thomas Allen on the High Stakes of the 2024 Presidential Election

‘We’re gonna need adults, American citizens, to step up and be ready to be the voices of reason.’

Mr. Allen warns that this election could be a turning point in modern history. “The 2024 presidential election is existential in nature. It is on par with the crisis we faced in 1776 and 1861.”

The author delves into the history of the Democratic Party, climate change, and other significant issues facing the country, providing historical context for a deeper understanding.

The central aim of his book is to encourage constructive dialogue on candidates, policies, and the nation’s current state.

“What I fear is that no one is going to accept the results of the 2024 election,” he emphasized.

“In desperate times in which there’s a frenzy of fear that’s pervading a country like ours right now, it is rife for all types of sides to come up with the most absurd ideas and to take advantage of the situation,” Mr. Allen said, adding, “On both sides, people are looking for a savior.”

Incumbent President Joe Biden’s biggest failure, Mr. Allen believes, is the southern border. Since the end of Title 42, a pandemic-era policy allowing border agents to expel illegal immigrants, so-called sanctuary cities have been burdened with expenses to house and feed individuals and families who have crossed the border.

According to the Pew Research Center, the monthly number of encounters at the U.S.–Mexico border surpassed 200,000 in December 2023, with 5 percent of those being unaccompanied minors.

“You don’t have a country if you don’t have a border,” Mr. Allen said.

He divulged that President Biden could end the humanitarian crisis at the border today if he wanted to. “He wants them here,” Mr. Allen said, speaking about illegal immigrants. “It’s part of a long-term agenda,” he added.

“You have illegals being counted in the census,” he pointed out, which influences the electoral college. The total electoral votes of a state are determined by the sum of its representatives in the House of Representatives plus its two senators. An exception to this rule is observed in the case of the District of Columbia, which, despite lacking voting representation in the House, is allocated the same number of electoral votes as the least populous state, as mandated by the 23rd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“This is treason, what they are doing,” he remarked, noting that a state’s census population determines the number of congressional districts allocated.

Mr. Allen said President Biden would ordinarily move back toward the center regarding his political maneuvering, particularly noting his embrace of far-left policies. “Barack Obama never moved as far left,” he said.

“How can you win an election if you’re not going to change course?” Mr. Allen said, adding that President Biden’s policies are alienating him from the American people and his previous voter base.

In recent months, the president’s age and mental capacities have been called into question. “Absolute nightmare scenario,” Mr. Allen said, surmising what would happen should President Biden step down to let Vice President Kamala Harris take the reins.

“For Democrats, at this point, it doesn’t really matter who the president is going to be because the person in charge is not really running anything.

“The Democrat Party is not salvageable at this point in history,” he added.

Moving his attention to third-party candidates, Mr. Allen noted that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. started out appealing to both moderate Democrats and Republicans with his anti-lockdown stance during the COVID-19 pandemic, commitment to environmental issues, anti-censorship rhetoric, and pledge to take on big pharma.

“He did resonate with people when it came to COVID and lockdowns and censorship and the pharmaceutical industry,” the author said.

“I think with his selection of his running mate, he’s not gonna pull as many votes away from Trump, so this is gonna be a net loss for Biden,” he remarked.

Mr. Kennedy announced Nicole Shanahan, a California lawyer specializing in criminal justice reform, as his vice president running mate for his Independent ticket. Ms. Shanahan was previously married to Google’s co-founder.

‘Witch Hunt’

Despite five bankruptcy filings, two impeachments by the House of Representatives, 91 indictments, and a New York City jury’s finding of liability for sexual assault against E. Jean Carroll, former President Donald Trump continues to stand as the Republican Party’s nominee.

“It’s a witch hunt,” Mr. Allen declared. “No president in American history has ever been indicted for any crime committed. You can go back to Bill Clinton, even. He perjured himself on a stand in front of a grand jury, and they let him off the hook.”

Speaking to The Epoch Times, Mr. Allen expressed concern: “When you see lawlessness and lawless behavior and the government is actually participating in it, when you have people on January 6 who are still being hunted down, grandmas thrown in prison, nobody’s going. Something scary happens—the American public starts to think about replacing the government for another.”

Reflecting on attempts to disqualify President Trump from the ballot, he remarked, “They tried to remove him from the ballot over something he was never found guilty of.”

Expressing apprehension about potential reactions to the November election, he continued, “The Democrats have set up a situation where they painted Donald Trump as a dictator, a threat to democracy, so they basically have given the green light for violence if Trump is reelected because they would justify that because he’s such a bad monster like Hitler as they compare him to.”

With Lara Trump’s recent appointment as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), the MAGA base has seen a noticeable expansion. “The Republican Party right now is inseparable from Donald Trump.”

Looking ahead to the distant future, Mr. Allen said: “We don’t know who will take the mantle after him. We haven’t seen an impact like Trump in this party since Reagan.”

Urging for responsible action, he concluded, “We’re gonna need adults, American citizens, to step up and be ready to be the voices of reason.”
