Another super PAC, Truth and Courage, has already raised more than $2 million for the senator’s race.
The Club for Growth’s super PAC “Club for Growth Action,” has announced that it will allocate at least $10 million to support Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) reelection campaign and his efforts against Texas Rep. Colin Allred.
The conservative group confirmed the financial backing in a March 7 statement in which it touted Mr. Cruz’s efforts in fighting “radical” left-wing policies.
“Allred has a long record of siding with Biden on the leftist policies wrecking the economy and driving inflation and dangerous crime. Despite his claims of bipartisanship, Allred’s record shows he’s blindly loyal to one team, the radical Democrats,” Mr. McIntosh continued. “In stark contrast, Ted Cruz has spent his career effectively fighting the radical policies that are crushing families, which Allred will have to defend until election day.”
Along with Club for Growth Action, another super PAC, Truth and Courage, has already raised more than $2 million for the senator’s race, The Washington Post reports.
‘Our Freedoms Are Under Attack’
On its official website, Truth and Courage notes that Mr. Cruz was “outspent” by a staggering $33.5 million during his 2018 reelection campaign, which saw the Texas Republican narrowly defeat Democrat Beto O’Rourke by less than three percentage points.
Following his win, Mr. Allred told reporters the “stakes could not be higher” during the upcoming Senate elections.
“Our freedoms are under attack, we do have a crisis at the border that have to respond to,” the Democrat said. “The fundamental reason that democracy works is that people elect leaders to represent them and their interests to try to fix things for them, not to look out for themselves. We’ve had enough of that with Ted Cruz, it’s time to go in a different direction.”
Allred Win Would Be ‘Catastrophic’
Meanwhile, on the social media platform X, Mr. Cruz, who easily won his party’s primary on March 5, said the race was about “law enforcement officers, our parents, farmers, ranchers, students, oil and gas workers, neighbors, and pastors, who are proud to call the Lone Star State home.”
“This is about Texas, about building bridges, fighting for our cadets, expanding highways, creating jobs, and protecting the state that we cherish so deeply. Never before has it been more important to unify and fight against the radical left who threaten to change what makes this state great,” Mr. Cruz wrote. “I look forward to continuing to meet Texans in every corner of the state as we work together to ensure that we keep Texas, Texas.”
No Democrat has won a statewide office in Texas in 30 years, marking the longest losing streak of its kind in the United States.
Mr. Allred’s campaign had raised more than $21 million in his election bid so far while Mr. Cruz has raised more than $46 million in his effort to secure a third six-year term.
