Flashback: John Kerry Defends His Private Jet Travels

The Biden administrationā€™s climate envoy John Kerry was gruff with a reporter on Tuesday when questioned about the ā€œcarbon footprintā€ caused by his attendance at the World Economic Forumā€™s Davos conference. When the reporter asked Kerry why he thought his carbon footprint didnā€™t matter, Kerry replied, ā€œNobody ever suggested that. Donā€™t make up stupid questions.ā€

In 2019, Kerry defended his use of a private jet to fly to Iceland, calling it ā€œthe only choice for somebody like me who is traveling the world to win this battleā€ against climate change.

ā€œI have to fly to meet with people and get things done,ā€ Kerry said.

Kerry plans to step down as special climate envoy in late winter or early spring.
