The fundraiser aims to raise the $355 million former President Donald Trump was fined last week by a New York judge.
A GoFundMe campaign started by the wife of a prominent real estate investor has raised more than $484,000 to help pay the growing legal expenses of former President Donald Trump.
“I stand unwaveringly with President Donald Trump in the face of what I see as unprecedented and unfair treatment by certain judicial elements in New York,” Ms. Cardone wrote on the GoFundMe webpage. “The recent legal battles he faces are not just an attack on him but an attack on the very ideals of fairness and due process that every American deserves.”
The judge also barred President Trump and his sons from leading businesses in New York for three years, finding them liable for fraud for inflating the value of their assets to secure better rates from lenders and insurers.
President Trump has vowed to appeal both rulings.
Ms. Cardone said Justice Engoron’s verdict should “terrify all business owners and entrepreneurs,” as the former president paid back his loans on time—with interest—and caused “no financial damage to anyone.”
The fundraiser, she said, isn’t just a legal fund but a rallying cry in defense of all businesses and President Trump.
“It’s about making a stand. It’s about showing that when one of us is targeted for championing the values that make America great, he does not stand alone. We stand with him, shoulder to shoulder, ready to support, defend, and fight back against a system that threatens to undermine the very foundations of our republic.”
The GoFundMe campaign aims to raise the $355 million in fines for President Trump. As of the morning of Feb. 19, more than 9,600 donations had been made in amounts ranging from $5 to $10,000.
Truckers for Trump
Another group of people “making a stand” for President Trump are some of the nation’s truckers.
Over the weekend, several truck drivers took to social media to announce that they were done making deliveries to New York in the wake of Justice Engoron’s ruling.
One such driver, who goes by “Chicago Ray” on X, reported having spoken to at least 10 truckers—including three of his co-workers—who planned to start refusing loads destined for New York starting on Feb. 19.
“I don’t know how far across the country this is or how many truckers are going to start denying loads going to New York City, but I’ll tell you what, you [expletive] around and find out,” he said in a video he shared to the platform on Feb. 16.
He later took the video down and clarified that he’s not “the leader of any movement” while reiterating his position and support for President Trump.
By that point, however, the notion of a “Truckers for Trump” boycott had already spread, with other truckers jumping on board.
“I’m a trucker, and I stand with the boycott. Time to show the corrupt we run this country. Not them,” Patrick Rossow wrote on X.
X user “The Real Trucker Jake” has also expressed his support, writing, “Liberals laugh at the thought of a trucker boycott of NYC. A few years ago, a trucker boycott brought the state of Colorado to its knees.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer Hernandez, a female boycott participant, told NewsNation on Feb. 19 that the pro-Trump protest could have a similar effect on New York.
“It could shut New York City down. … If New York just loses 10 percent, just 10 percent of the trucks that go in there, their prices are gonna skyrocket,” she said.
President Trump is set to face yet another New York trial next month over allegations that he illegally falsified business records. He responded to news of the boycott with gratitude.
“Such an honor to have so many Great Patriots on the side of FREEDOM!” he wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Joe Biden’s Unfair and Dangerous Weaponization of Law Enforcement is a serious threat to Democracy. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
