365 voted in favor of the bill, while 60 House Democrats and 15 Republicans voted against it.
The House on March 13 passed a bill that could ban Chinese-owned TikTok from the United States and grant the president sweeping new authorities to target foreign companies in the United States on national security grounds.
There were 197 Republicans and 155 Democrats who voted in favor of the bill, while 60 Democrats and 15 Republicans voted against it. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) voted “present.”
The bill moves onto the Senate, where Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has not committed to bringing up the legislation even though it has the support of Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the chairman of the powerful Senate Select Intelligence Committee.
President Joe Biden has said he would sign the legislation if Congress passes it.
