Hours after his big series of wins on Super Tuesday, the former president released a message for his GOP rival and her supporters.
Former President Donald Trump delivered a message to his political rival, Nikki Haley, on Wednesday morning, hours after he nearly swept Super Tuesday’s elections.
However, President Trump said that, despite her bruising loss, “At this point, I hope she stays in the ‘race’ and fights it out until the end!”
“I’d like to thank my family, friends, and the Great Republican Party for helping me to produce, by far, the most successful Super Tuesday in history and would further like to invite all of the Haley supporters to join the greatest movement in the history of our nation,” he wrote.
He posted the message just after 10 a.m. Eastern, the time at which Ms. Haley was set to announce that she would be exiting the presidential race. Super Tuesday’s results created an insurmountable delegate lead for the former president.
The latest tally showed President Trump with 1,055 delegates and Ms. Haley with 88, according to an online post by pollster Rich Baris. To win the Republican presidential nomination, a candidate needs 1,215 delegates. Their votes will be taken at the Republican National Convention this summer, making the party’s nominee choice official.
In his Truth Social post, President Trump noted that Democrat donors and voters heavily supported Ms. Hale.
Also, in all capital letters, the former president took clear aim at the frontrunner for the Democrat presidential nomination, incumbent President Joe Biden.
“Biden is the enemy, he is destroying our country,” President Trump wrote, closing with his campaign slogan: “Make America Great Again!!!”
