2022 Election Results in Baltimore – SouthBMore.com

Below are the elections results for races impacting South Baltimore. Things of note:

  • Ivan Bates has unseated incumbent Marilyn Mosby in the Democratic Primary for Baltimore City State’s Attorney.
  • South Baltimore Neighborhood Association resident and former Assistant Sheriff for Baltimore City Sam Cogen holds a 1,550-vote lead over 33-year incumbent John W. Anderson.
  • District 46 Delegate Brooke Lierman won the Democratic Primary for Maryland Comptroller.
  • Mark Edelson has secured the third spot in the Democratic Primary for District 46 Delegate. Edelson joins incumbents Luke Clippinger and Robbyn Lewis.
  • Republican Dan Cox and Democrat Wes Moore will go against each other in the General Election to replace term-limited Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.

Baltimore City State’s Attorney 

Locust Point resident Ivan Bates has unseated Marilyn Mosby in the Democrat Primary for Baltimore City State’s Attorney. Mosby finished in third behind Bates and and Thiru Vignarajah.

Roya Hana is running in the General Election as an Independent.

No Republicans ran.

Baltimore City Sheriff

Sam Cogen, the current president of South Baltimore Neighborhood Association and former Assistant Sheriff for Baltimore City, holds a 1,550-vote lead over 33-year incumbent John W. Anderson in the Democratic Primary for Baltimore City Sheriff. This race has not yet been called.

No Republicans or Independents are running for Sheriff.

District 46 (South and Southeast Baltimore) State Senator

Bill Ferguson is the incumbent and Senate President. Both candidates ran unopposed.

District 46 State Delegate

The top three candidates that represent each party in the General Election and the top three candidates that win the General Election represent the district. Mark Edelson has secured the third spot in the Democratic Primary for District 46 Delegate joining incumbents Luke Clippinger and Robbyn Lewis.

Delegate Brooke Lierman vacated her seat to run for Maryland Comptroller and won the Democratic Primary.

Representative in US 7th Congress District

This district was redrawn and now encompasses all of South Baltimore and most of Baltimore City. In the previous map, South Baltimore was represented by MD-3 Representative John Sarbanes. Kweisi Mfume is the MD-7 incumbent and he has won the Democratic Primary. He will face Lorrie A. Sigley in the General Election.

U.S. Senator

Democrat Chris Van Hollen is the incumbent. He will face Republican Chris Chaffee in the General Election.

Maryland Governor

Republican Dan Cox and Democrat Wes Moore will go against each other in the General Election to replace term-limited Maryland Governor Larry Hogan.

Maryland Comptroller

Incumbent Peter Franchot unsuccessfully ran for Governor. District 46 Delegate Brooke Lierman has won the Democratic Primary.

Maryland Attorney General

Incumbent Brian Frosh is retiring. Republican Michael Anthony Petrouka will face Maryland District 4 Representative Anthony G. Brown in the Primary Election.
