In the ever-changing landscape of American politics, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell faces challenges in supporting Ukraine due to shifting priorities within the GOP, particularly influenced by former President Donald Trump. Initially, McConnell linked Ukraine funding to a credible border solution but faced obstacles as Trump’s influence grew. Some GOP senators, like Thom Tillis, warned against abandoning the border deal for political reasons.
From our elected politicians, there seem to be no concerns about the safety of our nation. Only Independent media seems to really care about the fate of the American people.
The GOP’s unity on attaching border security language to an emergency defense spending bill has eroded, with Trump opposing the emerging bill. Trump, who once advocated for strict border legislation in 2018, now rejects the current bill, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive approach.
RINO’s (Republicans In Name Only) on Capitol Hill, who are connected to border profiteering groups, overlook a crucial problem that the Democrat’s open border presents to the US – national security. The Daily Caller recently reported on a terrorist from the Somali group al-Shabaab who was apprehended at the U.S. southern border, released, and allowed to roam freely in U.S. society for nearly a year before being arrested in Minnesota.
While Americans worry about our safety and our families, it feels like politics are living in a bubble.
Tillis, an open borders advocate who was reelected only because Trump helped him, argued this week that it is “immoral” for Republicans to reject a border deal solely to help Trump.
Tillis, who has long annoyed the people of North Carolina with his leftward-leaning policies, emphasized his ideas that the importance of passing what he says is “good policy” rather than using it as a political strategy for “Trump’s success”, as if Trump doesn’t represent the will of the American people.
Both Democrats and Republicans are upset with Trump’s attempt to thwart the border deal but they can not do much about that due to Trump’s growing popularity.
What really is behind their motivation is likely that the border crisis conflict is potentially jeopardizing aid for Ukraine tied to the agreement.
Trump’s recent calls for GOP opposition to any border deal that isn’t H.R. 2 complicate negotiations in the Senate. Senators like Mitt Romney, a Never Trumper, criticized the effort to kill the bill, stating that addressing the border issue is crucial now rather than delaying and taking credit later.
McConnell has considered separating the border and Ukraine sections of Biden’s request, but opinions differ on whether the border aid should be paired with other foreign aid.
In a recent CNN article- the differences between politicians and the American people is stark:
There doesn’t seem to be any urgency from the corporate media at all about how a government agency failed to ID a terrorist.
The Terrorist Screening Center, which is a part of the FBI, initially deemed the individual a “mismatch” but later confirmed him as an al-Shabaab member involved in explosives or firearms. Border Patrol caught 172 terror watchlist suspects attempting to enter the U.S. illegally in fiscal year 2023, posing risks to national security.
Ben Berggauam, a correspondent for Real America’s Voice and the host of Law and Border, slammed the RINOS and the government for overlooking the danger we are in on multiple fronts, including out-of-control NGOs who are just wasting taxpayer funds on this invasion scheme.

The Border profiteers in the GOP don’t care about what Bergquam exposes.
McConnell insists that the bill is an opportunity to reform asylum laws and enhance presidential authority over immigration issues, urging bipartisan support. Speaker Mike Johnson’s warnings about the Senate bill’s fate in the House add to the complexity, frustrating senators like Amnesty Tillis, who worked on border concessions.
Crybaby McConnell is bitter and claims that presidential politics, rather than the border crisis, drive opposition within the GOP. Despite challenges, negotiator James Lankford believes they are close to a bipartisan deal that could secure Senate Republican support.
However, concerns about the threat of a terrorist attack in the United States remain, with Lankford seemingly unconcerned about the danger we are in. The increasing number of suspected terrorists at the southern border is attributed to the constant influx of illegal immigrants, posing risks to national security.
