No Bail Needed For Illegals With Guns Squatting in NYC

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have confirmed that the eight Venezuelan illegal immigrant squatters apprehended in a New York City home last week, where drugs and guns were discovered, had been previously caught at the southern border and released into the United States. One of them is even suspected of murder, according to ICE statements provided to Fox News on Wednesday.

As frequently highlighted by Ben Bergquam in his reports, the number of Gottaways, individuals who actively evade capture, is a matter of significant concern. This is particularly troubling due to the increased likelihood they are involved in criminal activities, as we covered n this article:

Howeever these squatters had been apprehended, released, arrested, and released again without having to pay bail.

Following their arrests, three of the settlers were taken into custody by immigration authorities on Wednesday, while detainer requests have been lodged for four others currently held in local custody. One of the individuals remains at large.

The arrests occurred on March 27 after the New York Police Department responded to a call reporting a person brandishing a firearm at a Bronx apartment. Upon arrival, law enforcement found an individual pointing a gun at someone in the apartment’s driveway. The suspect fled into the building’s basement upon police approach.

Among those arrested on Wednesday was Hector Desousa-Villalta, 24, who had been previously arrested in August. Desousa-Villalta, allegedly wielding the firearm during last Wednesday’s incident, was initially released without bail despite the Bronx District Attorney’s Office recommending a $150,000 bail. He had been involved in a shooting incident in Yonkers in August 2023, but the case was dismissed due to a lack of cooperation from the victim.

Yoessy Pino Castillo, 20, and Yojairo Martinez, 42, were also apprehended during the raid. Castillo had been encountered by border authorities in Texas in May 2023 before being released. Martinez, similarly, was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents in September 2022 near El Paso before being released.

The three illegals subject to ICE detainers are Johan Jose Cardenas Silva, Yerbin Benjamin Lozada Munoz, and Javier Jose Albornoz Marchan. Silva, who entered the U.S. illegally, was ordered deported in March 2023 but was released from custody in October 2023 and failed to report to ICE. Munoz and Marchan were also detained at the border before being released.

Deportation proceedings are underway for all three individuals, while Miguel Gregerio Barrios remains at large.
