At the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, Real America’s Voice Correspondent Ben Bergquam captured a revealing interaction between himself and several attendees as they exited the Convention Center. With his camera rolling, Bergquam attempted to engage the crowd, asking them to name their favorite policy of Vice President Kamala Harris. To his surprise, many attendees had little to say, passing by without a response.
Some did, however, provide brief answers. One person cited “abortion” as a favorite policy, while another, when prompted, said “everything.” The responses seemed offhand and unenthusiastic, revealing a lack of strong engagement with specific policies.
As Bergquam continued to press for more detailed answers, he humorously noted, “Favorite Kamala policies. Just one favorite Kamala policy. That’s it JUST becoming president,” underscoring the challenge in getting concrete responses from the crowd.
The most notable encounter occurred when Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker approached. When asked about her favorite Kamala Harris policy, she responded, “My favorite Kamala Harris policy is that she loves my mayor.”
This response set the stage for a shift in the tone of the interaction. Initially cheerful, Mayor Parker’s demeanor quickly changed as Bergquam pivoted to a more pressing question about the state of safety in Philadelphia, asking, “How are the Democrats a partisan party of law and order when you’re defunding the police?”
Bergquam later shared the footage on social media, describing the moment as “wild.” He noted the swift change in the mayor’s attitude, commenting, “Funny how she went from happy to mad so fast. I guess tough questions will do that when you’ve failed your community for so long!” This encounter highlighted the tension between political representatives and constituents on pressing issues like crime and public safety, particularly in a city with a long history of Democratic leadership.
The video captures Mayor Parker’s handlers quickly intervening to shield her from further questioning, illustrating the defensive posture often taken when officials are confronted with uncomfortable topics.
